With the nomination as a World Heritage site and the signature of the Charter the municipalities involved committed to conserve the values of the site for future generations and to develop the region in a sustainable way. How the development between protection and land use will be defined depends highly from the next generations. Education and awareness rising of children and young people – being tomorrow’s decision makers – for the particularities and values of natural and cultural landscapes are therefore of relevance for the regional development as well as the key tasks of the UNESCO World Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch.
The study centre of the World Nature Forum offer Dal programmes and builds bridges between indoor and outdoor experiences. It is composed by two closely interlinked platforms: the «UNESCO Chair», a joint endeavor of the Centre for Development and Environment (CDE) of the University of Bern and CETRAD Kenya, and «Mountain-Formation».
